Adult Facilities

The Hesley Group provides 52-week a year residential, care, education and vocational services for children and adults, all of whom have complex needs, challenging behaviours and severe learning difficulties, arising from autism.

Its mission is to enhance the lives of the individuals entrusted to its services by focusing on their specific needs, capabilities and aspirations. This enables them to reach their full potential and achieve a progressively independent quality of life through:

  • Person-centred focus: This covers education/life-long learning, care, communication, health, behaviour, recreational/vocational programmes, emotional well being and citizenship. Individuals are encouraged to participate in activities and empowered to make supported decisions.
  • Outcome focused: It is the recognised that residents are adults and as such should be encouraged to make supported decisions wherever possible. Outcome focused activities which build confidence and social skills enable residents to achieve measurable progress.
  • Life-long learning: Individual life plans are focused on providing education and vocational plans tailored to suit the specific needs and aspirations of each resident. Fully inclusive community-based programmes enable life skills to be developed and practiced ensuring that each young person makes a positive contribution to their community.
  • Communication: Speech and Language Therapists work with each person to develop appropriate communication methods.
  •  Citizenship: By creating a safe, predictable and stimulating environment all individuals are active members of their community, which leads to meaningful social inclusion. Some residents have regular jobs working in the Village engaged in roles such post office duties, restaurant work, recycling and delivering mail.
  • Trust and relationships: Secure and familiar social networks are extremely important and these are developed and built upon from day one, creating trusting and valued relationships with not only the individual we care for, but also their immediate and extended family and friends.
  • High quality accommodation and facilities: Each resident has their own bedroom, the majority of which are en-suite, in a range of shared houses/flats or self-contained flats/bungalows. In addition there are a range of excellent on-site facilities to compliment and enrich the lives of students and residents.
  • Professional services: A dedicated team including Carers, Teachers, Education and Vocational Tutors, Assistant Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Psychiatrists and Speech and Language Therapists ensure that individuals have immediate access to the services they require.

Over 50 Local Education Authorities, Adult Social Services Departments and Primary Care Trusts throughout the UK entrust The Hesley Group for placements.
